Mumbai, 25 November 2025:
Two contrasting Bollywood releases—Farhan Akhtar’s patriotic war drama “120 Bahadur” and the adult comedy “Masti 4” starring Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani—hit theatres on November 21. While both films opened to decent weekend numbers, the first Monday collections brought an unexpected twist at the box office.
‘120 Bahadur’: Strong Weekend, Sharp Drop on Monday
Based on the legendary Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 Indo-China war, “120 Bahadur” portrays the heroic sacrifice of the 13 Kumaon Regiment, where 120 Indian soldiers fought valiantly against nearly 3,000 Chinese troops. Directed by Rajnish ‘Raazi’ Ghai, the film features Farhan Akhtar in the powerful role of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, who led the historic resistance.
According to early box office estimates (Sacnilk), the film collected approximately ₹4 crore on Sunday, but faced a steep fall on Monday with earnings dropping to ₹1.40 crore.
Made on a budget of nearly ₹85 crore, the film has managed to collect ₹11.50 crore in India within the first four days, with worldwide earnings expected to touch ₹15 crore soon. The sharp decline has raised concerns for the makers regarding the film’s long-term performance.
‘Masti 4’: Comedy Surprises With Better Monday Hold
In contrast, “Masti 4” showed better momentum at the start of the week. Featuring a large ensemble cast including Ruhi Singh, Shreya Sharma, Elnaz Norouzi, Nargis Fakhri, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and others, the film follows the chaotic married lives of its three lead characters and their misadventures in search of “masti.”
Despite mixed reviews, the franchise’s mass appeal helped the film earn ₹1.50 crore on Monday, overtaking “120 Bahadur.”
With a modest budget of around ₹25 crore, “Masti 4” has now collected ₹10 crore in India and is expected to reach ₹13 crore+ within its first four days.
The Verdict
While “120 Bahadur” continues to draw appreciation for its patriotic theme and powerful performances, its box office trajectory faces strong hurdles ahead. “Masti 4,” driven by franchise recall and lighter entertainment value, has managed a surprising edge on the first Monday.
Whether Farhan Akhtar’s war drama stabilises in the coming days or the comedy continues to lead remains to be seen—but the Monday numbers have clearly shaken the early box office equation.
