Alwar: In a shocking daylight crime, a 20-year-old nursing student was brutally murdered near the Mundawar police station in Rajasthan’s Alwar district on Friday. The accused, identified as Upendra Kumar (21) from Haryana’s Mahendragarh district, slit the young woman’s throat with a sharp-edged weapon. Police arrested him on the spot.
Murder Occurred Just Metres Away From Police Station
The crime took place around 2.30 pm, triggering panic in the surrounding area and within the police station premises. According to the police, the accused was living in a rented room in Mundawar and claimed to be involved in share market trading.
Station Officer Ramniwas stated that the youth and the victim were seen sitting and talking near the rented rooms opposite the police station when the accused suddenly attacked her with a sharp weapon, killing her instantly.
Family Erupts in Protest; Road Blocked
As soon as the victim’s family received the news, they rushed to the police station and staged a protest outside. They blocked the Khairthal–Behror road, accusing the police of negligence and demanding strict action.
Police and district officials later persuaded the protesters to lift the blockade. The body has been kept at the Mundawar hospital mortuary. A medical board will conduct the post-mortem examination.
Family Alleges Kidnapping, Rape and Murder
The victim’s father made serious allegations, claiming that both his daughters had come to Mundawar for their nursing diploma classes at 10 am. When the younger daughter stepped out to buy breakfast, the accused allegedly dragged the older daughter to his room, raped her, and then murdered her by slitting her throat.
The family asserted that despite the incident occurring right in front of the police station, officers failed to save their daughter. They demanded justice and the harshest punishment for the accused.
Based on the family’s complaint, the Mundawar police have registered a case under charges of kidnapping, rape, and murder, and a detailed investigation is underway.
